MEPCO Electricity Tariff and Peak Hours
MEPCO’s per-unit rates are set in the federal government’s notification SRO 1157(I)/2025, effective 1 July 2025, and NEPRA kept them unchanged for calendar year 2026. Homes pay between Rs 3.95 and Rs 47.69 per unit depending on usage and status; adjustments and taxes are added on top.
Last verified: 2 October 2026 against SRO 1157(I)/2025 and NEPRA’s decision of 12 January 2026. Independent guide, not affiliated with MEPCO, PITC or NEPRA.

* 401–500 units: the scanned NEPRA notification appears to read Rs 40.20, while January 2026 reports in Express Tribune and Pakistan Observer give Rs 40.22. This figure needs verification — check the rate printed on your bill. All other residential rates match across these sources.
Only protected consumers get the benefit of one previous slab; lifeline and unprotected consumers are charged all units at their slab’s rate. Where no fixed charge applies, a minimum charge of Rs 75 (single-phase) or Rs 150 (three-phase) per month applies. What “protected” and “lifeline” mean is explained in how to read your MEPCO bill.
Homes with 5 kW or more (time-of-use)
Homes with a sanctioned load of 5 kW or more are billed on time-of-use (peak and off-peak) rates with a monthly fixed charge. We have not yet been able to confirm these rates from a second source, so we do not list them here; they are in Annex-A of the official notification, and the rates applied to you are printed on your bill.
Shops, offices and general services
Commercial (A-2), general services (A-3), industrial, agricultural and bulk-supply rates are set in the same notification. Because the published document is a scanned image and we have not been able to confirm these figures from a second source, we do not reproduce them. Check the tariff code and rate printed on your bill, or ask your MEPCO sub-division.

Who this affects: the peak and off-peak price difference applies to connections billed on time-of-use meters, such as homes and shops with a sanctioned load of 5 kW or more. On an ordinary slab tariff, the time of day does not change your rate — only your total units do.
What is not included in these rates
Monthly fuel charges adjustments, quarterly adjustments, taxes, arrears and any surcharges are added separately. Recent decisions are listed in the MEPCO bill adjustments log. To estimate a home bill from your units, use the MEPCO bill calculator.
